So close, and yet so far away...

"Watch me mommy!"

"Ok, I put my hands down like this..."

"...and push up like this..."

"...and bring my knees up like this. Do you see me mom? See me?!"

"Argh! Why does that always happen?!"

Chloe is SO INCREDIBLY CLOSE to crawling. She wants to so badly, you can tell! She can get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth, and sometimes scoot backwards, but that's about it so far. I would love for her to be crawling by Christmas. I think that would make it a lot of fun. I know all my mom friends out there are laughing their butts off at the fact that I think it'll be fun, but I do. I can't help it.
Addie has been helping me teach her, and that's a blast to watch. Addie will crawl in circles around her and back and forth in front of her, and that's when Chloe tries the hardest. She ends up flat on her belly and her legs and arms really get to flailing about trying to go somewhere. She'll figure it out soon enough though, I know.

6 Month Pictures

Even though Chloe will be 7 months on Saturday, I still wanted to get some official 6 month pictures (my goal is every 3 months). Here's a few of my favorites.

"Make sure you get my good side"

"Uh Oh..."

"What do I do now, mom?"

Turkey Eatin' and Christmas Decoratin'

Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks here in the Savage household. We had 3 Thanksgiving dinners this year. We celebrated with my family the Saturday before because they were gonna be out of town, with Kris' family on Thanksgiving, and the day after Kris and I made our own Thanksgiving dinner.
Here are a few pictures from our holiday festivities. Unfortunately I completely forgot my camera on Thanksgiving day, so I have no pictures of Chloe on Thanksgiving. :-(

Chloe getting a taste of real food, yummy mashed potatoes. Daddy couldn't let mommy get away with giving her ONLY mashed potatoes, so she got a taste of real sweet potatoes too.

Mashed potato face.

Aw...

This is my turkey that I cooked. It turned out pretty good.

This last weekend we put up our tree and have been Christmas shopping, which we're almost completely done with by the way, and we got Chloe's first ornament!

Here's daddy and Chloe putting her ornament on the tree.

The first present under the tree!

"Oooh, pretty colors..."

The last order of business is Chloe's 6 month check up. It went very well. Dr. Beck said she looks good and it's time to start teaching her how to drink from a cup, so we've been working on that the past couple weeks. She's pretty good at it. She just can't tip it up very well yet.
She weighs a little over 15lbs. now and is 24in. long. It's funny... She's in the 19th percentile for her height, but almost the 50th percentile for her head size. So we have a short baby with a big head, but she sure is cute!
Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you had a splendid Christmas!
Oh, if you're not doing anything Sunday night at 6pm you should come to East Side Baptist Church for our Christmas Night of Praise! It's gonna be awesome!!

First Snow

This morning we woke up to find a little snow on the ground! So this is officially Chloe's first snow!

I would've liked to put a blanket down in the snow, but she's got another cold so I wanted to make it quick and didn't want her to get really cold and wet in any way. Maybe next time.

Carnival Fun

On November 8th our church had the annual Halloween carnival (the original date was canceled due to bad weather) and Kris and I took Chloe. She was super excited to get into her stroller for the first time instead of being cooped up in the car seat, but that was all that impressed her.

She sat like that pretty much the whole time. There was a lot to look at, but it was windy and after the first few minutes she's was bored. We'll have more fun next year.

Bananas, Peaches, and Pears, OH MY!!

Ok... Here are Chloe's pictures while eating fruit. The fruits aren't a color that stand out in a picture really well, so there aren't any fancy photoshop stuff with these. Oh, and I don't have her pictures with applesauce because Kris took them with his camera, but she liked it a lot.

"Bananas! Yum! They're my Papi's favorite!"

"Peaches! They're MY favorite!"

"Pears! Yummy! I don't know whose favorite they are, but I sure do like 'em."

These will probably be the last food pictures for awhile. She's moved up to stage 2 in baby food, and there are SO MANY different ones including dinners and a couple more fruits and fruit combos. If I posted all of them, the blog would turn into a "What's Chloe eating tonight?" kind of thing. But I think I've decided that we're gonna hold off on feeding her dinners and meats and things of that nature until we're ready to replace a nursing with food, and I'll give her like, a dinner or meat and a vegetable or fruit.
Alright, as some of you know, several months ago I considered switching to formula but didn't because it gave her an upset stomach. Well, since Chloe has gotten teeth, she's started biting! I know she's not biting because she's being bad or anything, it's more like, "I bite everything else I put in my mouth, why not this?". As I'm sure most of my mom friends know, IT HURTS!!! and I've tried every piece of advice I've been given and nothing has worked, so I've decided again to switch to formula. It doesn't make her stomach hurt anymore, our financial situation is better now that Kris had a new job, so we just decided to go for it. BUT... last night (I'm replacing one feeding at a time starting with before bed) Chloe refused to eat from a bottle which she's never done before, and kept acting like she didn't like the formula which she also hasn't done before, so I don't know. I'm gonna try again tonight and if she doesn't take it, then once again, she's told me she doesn't want me to stop nursing.

6 Months

My baby girl turns 6 months old today. I can't believe she's half way there to turning 1! Well, I figured I would take a moment to share with you (and remind myself for later) all the things she's doing, her favorites and likes and dislikes at 6 months of age.

Chloe is sitting pretty well on her own now, but she has to really want to or else she just flops around.

She's interested in everything you have in your hands. She could have the most colorful, noise making toy ever, but if you have something in your hands she wants that instead.

Her favorite toy is a toy key ring with big rubbery keys on it and noises. Her favorite book is a crinkle page book with numbers 1-5 in English, Spanish, and French.

She loves to sleep on her belly. She'll start on her back and roll to her side for awhile before she eventually rolls onto her belly for the night.

She loves to play on the floor and roll. But she can only roll to the left, so we have to start her at the far right of a blanket or she just rolls off in about 2 seconds. This way we at least have 5 seconds before she rolls off, hahaha.

Her favorite vegetable is carrots, her least favorite is peas. Her favorite fruit right now is peaches, but we have pears tonight so that may change.

She prefers to nurse on the right side, but if she's tired and wants to snuggle for a bit with her momma, she prefers the left.

She sucks on her left fingers. Mainly her middle and ring fingers, but sometimes she'll add her index finger.

and...
Her favorite game is peekaboo. Her favorite song is twinkle twinkle little star, but she like to watch you sing any song if it has hand motions.

I think that's everything, but I'll probably think of more as soon as I post this. Oh well.
We go to the doctor tomorrow so I'll post all her stats and her fruit pictures when I get a chance.

Halloween 2009

Happy Day After Halloween everyone! Our monkey was a sick baby for her first Halloween :-(. She has a cold, but we wanted to take her trick-or-treating at her grandparent's houses.

Mmmm, Reese's!

he he he, Nahni gave me a sucker...

No, I did not let my 5 month old baby eat a sugar filled sucker. The wrapper is still on, but we now know she knows what to do with it...

the family

"No, I don't want this one. I want that big one over there!"

Chloe and her pumpkins! Her big pumpkin has two teeth, just like she does! Daddy wanted to see what it would be like to carve a tiny pumpkin like that.

Mommy's pumpkin and the baby pumpkin. You can't tell, but it says mommy and has a flower on it.

Daddy and Chloe's pumpkins.

We had a record of ZERO trick-or-treaters come to the house. We beat our record last year of 2 I think. (there aren't many kids at all in our neighborhood)

Pretty, pretty PEAS mommy??

Chloe had peas for the first time the other night. So far we've only given her half a container each time we've fed her, but last night she ate a whole one and loved it.
It was sooo funny. A couple days ago I had just finished feeding her peas, and like I said, we only fed her half, and she was watching me put away the rest of it while trying to grab the container from my hands with her mouth WIDE OPEN. That's when I decided we'd try feeding her the whole container.
Tonight we start FRUITS! I'm just gonna do them in alphabetical order, so Applesauce is on the menu for tonight. I think, so she can still get a serving a vegetables I might feed her some along with her lunch time feeding too.

First bite of peas!

Again, not my favorite one. The Green vegetables are hard.

I can't remember whether or not I've posted that Chloe has been teething. Well, a couple of weeks ago, her first tooth broke through! I've been waiting to take a picture of it until it was grown in enough to see it in a picture and by the time that happened, tooth number 2 was on it's way in!

She loves chewing on a cold wash cloth. In the bath tub, she'd rather play with that than any of her actual toys!

You can't see it that well in this picture. Now that I think about it, I'm probably the only who could because I know what I'm looking for and I'm the one who took the picture.

Here's tooth number 1 and the very tip top of tooth number 2. You can see the swelling of the gums around number 2.

And the winner is...

Ok, so a couple of days ago I posted that you all would get to vote on which food Chloe would try next. After NO ONE posting their vote by yesterday afternoon I made it my facebook status and it would have been a tie, BUT the last couple votes came in too late and were not counted. Because of that chain of events, Kris and I ended up having to vote too, and the winner was...
GREEN BEANS.

She had a whole spoon full on her chin at one point.

After a few bites her face was pretty much like this the whole time. "More please... More please... More please... MOM!"

She loved it.

This one was so hard to do because of how the green beans were on her chin in the picture. Definitely not my favorite one I've done.

What should be next???

Tonight was Chloe last night of squash (for now). She liked them a lot. I still think she liked the carrots the most so far. Next are GREEN VEGETABLES, and I have decided to give you, yes YOU, the choice of which one she should try first! GREEN BEANS or PEAS? Comment your vote and I'll post pictures of her eating the one with the most votes.

Chloe is getting to be so much fun! I love being her mom! She's rolling all the time now, she loves to talk to you and herself, and she loves rolling while talking. She says ba ba ba and aaaahhh and she'll go mum mum mum while she whining or crying about something sometimes. I no she's not saying mama, but I like to pretend she is. The latest letter she's learned to say is Eeeeeeeee, and she does raspberries ALL the time. Its SO CUTE!!

Squish, SQUASH!

Chloe tried squash tonight. Unfortunately Kris wasn't home to take pictures while I was feeding her, and my camera batteries were dead, so I couldn't take them myself. She seemed to like it. Over the last few days she's LOVED her carrots though. I think they've been her favorite so far. After we give her the squash for a few days we can move on to green vegetables then fruits!
So...since I don't have any food pictures to post... Here's some others that I've photoshopped recently.

Pumpkin Patch

This one isn't my favorite and didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but it's still kinda cool.

This is the most recent one I did (like, just before I posted this). Its the lyrics to Jesus Loves the Little Children.
